WELCOME FROM PRESIDENT JERRY BLOTTER

On behalf of the directors, advisors, and the executive secretary of the Manitoba-North Dakota Zero Tillage Farmers Association I would like to welcome you to the 24th annual workshop here in Minot, ND.

This year’s theme: Farming for Soil and Water Quality, is certainly relevant for our time. Both of our countries have become more urban and with that shift, so has the policies that dictate what we can do. As agricultural producers we need to be at the forefront of those issues. This workshop continues to lead us down that path of being good stewards of what we have been entrusted with. Your being here shows the concern you have for the future of those that will tend the land and the concerns of the urban base.

Profitable agricultural production will always be a challenge, but with the help of research and advanced technologies we can be more efficient and profitable. We must be open to the changes that occur in this agricultural sector as we learn and share information with each other. I think that this workshop does that. I would like to thank those in research that put in countless hours because without their dedication this workshop would have limited success.

In closing I would also thank our farmers for continuing to persevere during these changing times. Much has come from your input and determination. Your good stewardship will not go unnoticed.

I hope your stay will be enjoyable and informative.
